A thousand Spiritual leaders across America, including Judeo-Christian apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, gathered at a meeting that was closed to the media last week. This gathering was dubbed a “Conversation with Donald Trump and Ben Carson” and was emceed by Mike Huckabee. The meeting was initially planned as a small intimate gathering of 100 leaders, but quickly blossomed into a 'Spiritual Gathering of National Leaders' topping 1000. Evangelist Alveda King explained to me that “it still felt like a small intimate gathering”, not an easy task to pull off my friends.

Donald Trump said something that caught everyones attention –  “Of course pray for everybody… [but] we can’t be, again, politically correct and say we pray for all of our leaders, because all of your [political] leaders are selling Christianity down the tubes, selling the evangelicals down the tubes. And it’s a very, very bad thing that’s happening.”

How did that statement go over with the folks in attendance? And is this Trump’s mojo that has caught on with the electorate? Alveda King was in attendance at this national gathering of Spiritual Leaders and joins Malcolm to talk about the Election, Racism, and Christianity in America.

Trump promised economic justice as a means of lessening the bands of racism. When he talks about ‘lessening the bands of racism’ will people believe him when he has been branded as racist himself? How can he build trust with folks and change these perceptions? What specifically does he have to do to attract more african-americans to the party and to vote for him in November?

He promised that “America will be free to say Merry Christmas” again.
He promised to appoint Prolife Supreme Court justices.
He promised safe borders for America.
He promised to strengthen our military to protect our nation.
He gave God the credit for giving him intelligent children.

“Don't pray to be politically correct. Pray to be spiritually correct.” Alveda King
We'll discuss these promises with Evangelist Alveda King today on the show.
