“Biden is President! Let’s go!” That was the unspoken motivation of tens of thousands of illegal immigrants now streaming across our southern border. Even Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador admitted this, saying, “Expectations were created that with the Government of President Biden there would be better treatment of migrants. And this has caused Central American migrants, and also from our country, wanting to cross the border thinking that it is easier to do so.”

What better treatment? According to a report at BusinessInsider.com, President Joe Biden’s administration has secured an $86 million contract for hotels to house migrants, Axios reported Saturday. The contract comes as the president struggles to address the surging numbers of families and kids trying to enter the US. The contract is with hotels near the border in Arizona and Texas to hold about 1,200 migrants and will last six months.

Biden’s Open Borders . . . More Expensive Than Building a Wall?

Now let’s do the math. Multiply 1,200 migrants, housed for six months (times 182 days) = 218,400 hotel nights. Divide $86 million by 218,400 hotel nights, = $393,77 per night. Many chain hotels (Days Inn, Super 8) offer room rates of $135 or less. $393.77 less $135 = $258.77. Who is pocketing the difference? Or do migrants get the deluxe Ritz-Carlton bridal suite every night? Who pays? You and me.

When Trump was building a wall, the Democrats cried over how expensive it would be. Now we see how expensive it is not to build a wall. Progressives also said a border wall was immoral. My question: Is it moral to take the tax money of hard-working American citizens and rent luxury-priced hotel rooms for illegal immigrants?  Any individual who wants to pay for a hotel room for a migrant is free to do so. But taxpayers are not free to deduct $393.77 per illegal per night from their tax bill.

The Left loves to brag about how “compassionate” they are . . . with our tax money.

Are Borders Immoral? Or Functional?

The Left has made the case that borders are immoral and unnecessary in the New World Order. No boundaries, no nations, just one big inclusive world. They say inclusion is the overriding value we should practice. Include everyone! Let them in! The more, the merrier! My question: Without borders, are we even a country anymore?

When we study biology, we learn that every living organism has a boundary wall. Mammals have skin. Birds, reptiles, and insects have skin. Down to the lowly amoeba, even single-cell organisms have a boundary wall. Otherwise, the “no boundary wall” amoeba dissolves and dissipates into a goulash of organic molecules. The boundary wall allows the biological system to work within it. No boundary = no system = no organism.

Why biological boundaries? To allow in nutrients and keep out toxins and disease bacteria.

Our body’s skin is a border wall. It is designed to keep out deadly bacteria that can harm and kill us. Our skin is designed to exclude, not include, diseases like Staphylococcus, MRSA, Clostridium difficile,  hepatitis, Ebola, and many others.

Now Let’s do a Thought Experiment:

What if . . . we followed the logic of “inclusion at all costs” down to the biological level? Then we can’t exclude staph! If we do, we are awful “disease-ist” human DNA supremacists. So, let staph into our body. Don’t put a band-aid on that cut! Let that tear or cut in our skin admit staph and tetanus and divers other environmental toxins. After all, we believe in the inclusion of all bacteria! And let in ebola. Ebola did not originate in Europe or North America, so if we exclude it, we are bacterial racists. Even having skin at all is exclusionary. Scrape it off. Become the skinless human being. Admit all disease into your body. You must be inclusive, after all.

I hope that this reductio ad absurdum thought experiment shows you the result of no borders. No borders = no country. Bye-bye, Ms. American Pie. Like the amoeba without a boundary, our borderless nation dissolves into chaos and anarchy.

Internal medicine doctors explain to us that there are helpful and useful bacteria in our gut that help us digest our food. We often take probiotics or yogurt to replace them after taking antibiotics that kill them (along with the bad bacteria that made us sick). So, not all foreign bacteria are bad. But our bodies are selective, not inclusive, in which bacteria they allow in.

So too must countries be selective and systematic about letting immigrants inside the boundaries. We have seen how MS-13 gangs are like staphylococcus, destroying the host organism: communities in the US. We have seen how terrorists are like MRSA, attacking the infrastructure of the host country. There are good immigrants and bad immigrants for our country, just as there are good bacteria and good bacteria for our bodies. As a nation, we must be selective or suffer the consequences.
