There’s about a thousand or more lawyer jokes out there, the vast majority of them not very complimentary about the legal profession. Some are pretty outlandish in their premise and everyone knows that they’re just a joke and far from accurate, but they’re still awful damn funny. Others are maybe just a little too close to the truth, and they make lawyers just a tad bit uncomfortable.

But to be fair, the majority of lawyers try to be honorable and represent their profession with integrity. And a good many of those lawyers laugh along with the rest of us at the same jokes being told about them. They understand that it comes with the territory.

Certainly most of those in the legal profession know that they have a responsibility to represent their clients to the best of their abilities, even at times taking on clients or defending positions that they might personally disagree with.

Our Constitution guarantees us the right to competent legal representation. But unfortunately there are a fair number of lawyers out there who either haven’t a clue about what ‘justice’ really is, or they are more interested in and willing to do anything to win and make a buck.

It’s been pretty well established over the past thirty years that Bill and Hillary Clinton are two of the most dishonest, corrupt, and despicable politicians in American history to ever run for the highest office in the land. Bill Clinton actually won the presidency when he more legitimately should have been serving a lengthy jail term for multiple sexual assaults.

Fortunately for all of us, Hillary lost her race for president, and the list of Hillary’s transgressions are far too numerous to list here. But suffice it to say that she makes her husband Bill look like a piker when it comes to corruption and dishonesty. And interestingly enough both are also lawyers.  Bill and Hillary are ‘poster children’ for the term “shyster”.

There’s one other individual closely associated with the Clintons who can be added to the list of ambulance chasers and sleazy lawyers, and for whom the word “shyster” fits like a glove, and that’s Lanny Davis.

Lanny Davis entered the American consciousness back during the Bill Clinton Administration, when he served as a special counsel to President Bill Clinton, and basically as an administration ‘mouthpiece’ defending the Clintons against all the investigations of criminal and other ethical misconduct involving both Bill and Hillary.

In addition to the Clintons, just a quick glance at the list of clients Davis has represented over the years reads like a ‘who’s who’ of other sordid characters. What has generally been considered African dictators and strongmen, and some educational institutions and corporations with questionable business practices are among his former clients. Each one paying him a handsome fee no doubt. It appears that as far as Davis is concerned, “it’s all about the Benjamins”.

Whenever I see and hear Lanny Davis I can’t help but think of the line from the 1992 Hollywood movie ‘My Cousin Vinny’, when the defense lawyer character Vincent Gambini responds to the prosecutor’s opening statement by approaching the jury and saying, “Everything that guy just said is bullsh*t”. That’s the image I get every time Lanny Davis opens his mouth.

Lanny Davis by virtue of his representing Bill and Hillary Clinton for all these years, and for that matter his entire legal career convinces me that he simply can’t be believed. He actually makes the term “shyster” look good.

Watching former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen testify before the Democrat-controlled House Oversight Committee, with Lanny Davis prominently seated directly behind him and a constant presence on the televised hearings, one can’t help but hope that these two high-priced lawyers – formerly high priced in the case of Cohen, who’s income level has likely been diminished greatly by his impending incarceration – aren’t reflective of the legal profession in America.

Or that all of those American Socialist Party members (formerly Democrats) asking the questions aren’t indicative of our elected officials in Washington. It was particularly interesting seeing the Freshman Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib spew out accusatory invective at Republican Mark Meadows where she clearly implied that he was racist. She quickly tried to backtrack because she knew she’d get in trouble with House rules by making such a personal and defaming attack against another House member.

When Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz asked pointed questions about then candidate Trump’s supposed “collusion” with Russia all I could think of was ‘what about Pakistan’? And by the way, what ever happened to the list of names of members of Congress who paid out sexual harassment claims from a taxpayer slush fund? Shouldn’t we taxpayers know who used these funds to pay off victims of their unwanted sexual advances? RELEASE THE NAMES NANCY!

Choosing now for their hearings in the midst of sensitive negotiations with a nuclear adversary tells you what you need to know about the Socialists, politics is more important to them than national security.

If what we saw today with the American Socialist Party and their little ‘Get Trump Dog and Pony Show’ is reflective of what they intend for the next two years instead of working for the good of the American people, then our republic truly is in trouble.
