The Quiet Misdiagnosed Epidemic

Have you ever wondered why your doctor can’t seem to find out why you’re constantly fatigued, can’t sleep, have brain fog, suffer from memory loss and have difficulty losing weight despite your best efforts? Maybe it’s because he’s not looking in the right place.

According to the American Thyroid Association 12 – 30% of Americans will suffer from thyroid problems at some point over their lifetime and some people think this is an understatement. And most of these thyroid problems are hypothyroidism or a slow sluggish thyroid that can cause weight gain, depression, brain fog, and a host of other problems.

Dr. David Jockers is a chiropractor and natural health practitioner, a best-selling author and sought after speaker. He helps people through functional medicine to regain their health and uses an array of tests along with a common sense approach to getting to the root cause of their problem and fixing it – a theme of mine that I constantly preach.

He believes that hypothyroidism is an epidemic in this country and many go undiagnosed because doctors are not ordering the tests that check for one of the main problems of hypothyroidism – Hashimotos. Hashimotos is an autoimmune disease. This test is rarely ordered by doctors because as Dr. Jockers explains, they are not trained to do so.

It’s no wonder that this is one of the most misdiagnosed or underdiagnosed illnesses of our time. And when you take into account the standard by which they are basing what normal is on these tests, (which is taking the average numbers from a sick population and calling that normal!), it’s understandable why doctors are not properly diagnosing this illness.

But there are things that you can do to be proactive and get yourself back to a state of health. Dr. Jocker’s is on the cutting edge of why people are getting sick with thyroid issues, how to test for them, and what to do to get people back healthy again.
