⏯ The Piano Is Not Partisan, Neither is The Background
The video is magnificent, a true work of art. How could it not be with our beautiful planet as the background in the majestic arctic – on a floating platform off the coast of Norway. Ludovico Einaudi is sitting at the piano on a wooden iceberg-shaped platform in the Arctic Ocean, in front of the Wahlenbergbreen glacier in Svalbard, Norway.
The video showcases Italian composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi playing his “Elegy for the Arctic”. Einaudi himself is 60 and was born in Turin, Italy; he’s historically been open to inspiration and collaboration, releasing an album in 2001 inspired by traveling to Africa and working with a German electronic group in 2009. That openness of creative spirit is evident in this composition. “I’ve been about to see the purity and fragileness of this area with my own eyes and perform a song that I composed on the best stage in the world,” he said in a statement before the performance, reports Good.
For me, this is not a political statement – it is a mere appreciation of the awesomeness of our planet. This is another one of those cases where the loudest voices on the left and the right get most of the attention. Listen it’s real simple, we each have a responsibility to take card of this place. It should not be a left vs right political speech. Preservation and care of our planet is a good and noble movement for all.
