The peninsula that is called Turkey today, was originally called Anatolia. For centuries before the Turkeyfication of Anatolia starting with the Sunni Muslim Seljuks, it was almost totally occupied by the Byzantine Christians from the Mediterranean to Armenia.
It is best to enlighten the readers with the background that leads to modern Turkey without which it would be impossible to understand the mind-set of the dictator of Turkey; Recep Tayyib Erdogan.
From their homeland in Central Asia (near the Aral Sea), under their leader Tughril Beg (990), the Seljuks first conquered Khorasan (mainland Persia) and then subjugated most of Anatolia from the Byzantine Empire in 1071.
The Seljuk Empire declined over the next two centuries until they were completely taken over by the Ottoman Turks by the Oghuz Turkish tribal leader Osman I (Othman/ Uthman; from which the name Ottoman is derived).
What we call the Turkish people since the 1920’s, are those descendants of the Muslim Ottoman Turkic tribes.
For almost six centuries, the Ottoman Muslims were able to subjugate many Christian European countries such as Armenia, Georgia, Greece, most of what used to be Yugoslavia (Balkans), Hungary, Roumania, Austria etc.
The ottomans were ruthless in their occupation of Christian lands and as usual with Muslims, they imposed Sharia laws thus forcing hundreds of thousands of Christians to convert to Islam so as to escape the onerous penalty of Jizyah for NOT converting to Islam. They either destroyed Churches or remodelled them into mosques as was done to the Churches in occupied Cyprus (20th July 1974).
For centuries thereafter, just before Christmas, the Ottomans would go to many of the Christian villages and pick many of the beautiful girls (for the Harems of the Sultan or governors) and young boys to be forcefully converted to Islam and become part of the Praetorian Guards of the Sultan called Janissaries.
During the 16th and 17th centuries, the Ottomans were at the height of their power under the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent (Suleiman I; 1494/1566).
Suleiman succeeded his father as sultan in 1520 and began his reign with campaigns against the Christian powers in central Europe and the Mediterranean. Belgrade fell to him in 1521 and Rhodes, long under the rule of the Knights of St. John, in 1522–23. In 1526, Suleiman broke the military strength of Hungary when king Louis II lost his life in battle.
Suleiman became a prominent monarch of 16th-century Europe presiding over the apex of the Ottoman Empire’s economic, military and political powers. He personally led Ottoman armies in conquering the Christian strongholds of Belgrade and Rhodes as well as most of Hungary before his conquests were checked at the Gates of Vienna in 1529.
He was titled Magnificent because he personally instituted major legislative changes relating to society, education, taxation and criminal law. His reforms, harmonized the relationship between the two forms of Ottoman law: Sultanic (Qanun) and Religious (Sharia). He was a distinguished poet (interesting since poetry is prohibited in Islam) and goldsmith. He was also a great patron of culture, overseeing the so called “Golden Age” of the Ottoman Empire in its architectural, literary and artistic developments.
Breaking with Ottoman tradition, Suleiman married Hurrem Sultan a woman from his harem a Christian of Ruthenian origin (part of the kingdom of Poland), who converted to Islam and who became famous in the West by the name Roxelana, purportedly due to her red hair. Their son Selim II succeeded Suleiman following his death in 1566 after 46 years of rule.
With Constantinople as its capital and control of lands around the Mediterranean Sea, the Ottoman Empire was at the centre of interactions between the Eastern and Western worlds for six centuries.
The decline and fall of the Ottoman Empire was due (and continues to be the case) to the fact that for as long as Muslim countries institute and impose Sharia upon their peoples, they must inevitably become retarded scientifically, artistically and intellectually. In the meantime, Western Christian peoples freed from the draconian constraints imposed by the Catholic clergy for almost 1500 years, became the foremost inventors, creators and producers in human history.
Hoping to escape from the diplomatic isolation which had contributed to its recent territorial losses, Ottoman Turkey the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary and Bulgaria) in WWI (1914-1919) against Britain, France and Russia (joined later on by the USA).
Under the pretext of war, the Ottoman Turks committed the most horrendous and systematic Genocide (preceding the Nazi Holocaust of WWII) by literally EXTERMINATING 1,500,000 Christian Armenians starting in 1915.
The genocide was carried out during and after World War I and implemented in two phases—the wholesale killing of the able-bodied male population through massacre and subjection of army conscripts to forced labour, followed by the deportation of women, children, the elderly, and the infirm on Death Marches leading to the barren Syrian Desert. Driven forward by military escorts, the deportees were deprived of food and water and subjected to periodic robbery, rape, and massacre thus contributing to the exile of most of the Armenian Diaspora communities around the world.
Although the above events were witnessed and recorded, Erdogan and his Turks, not only blatantly and completely DENY these facts, but as usual with Muslims, pretend that those who are bringing these facts to the attention of the ignorant as Islamophobes.
It was because of the collapse of the Ottoman Empire that all the Arabs were LIBERATED by the Western Powers and 22 Arab states that did NOT exist were created. The same ungrateful and spineless Arabs (who for 500 years under the boots of the Ottomans NEVER revolted to free themselves) yet accuse the West of Imperialism.

It was Mustafa Kemal Pasha (called Ataturk/ Father of Turks) who authored and founded the modern Republic of Turkey and serving as its first president in 1923-1938. As a secularist and nationalist he literally dragged Turkey from its Ottoman abyss to turn it into a modern westernised state.

He became prominent during the battle of Gallipoli in WWI against the British in 1915. After the defeat of the Ottomans, he withstood further onslaughts by the Allies and founded the Turkish Republic.
He did so, by completely ERADICATING all forms of Sharia under the constitution thus liberating all the women of Turkey and allowing all citizens freedom to create, explore, invent and succeed as individuals.
He terminated the total authority that the Imams held over the citizens for 500 years. He removed the Arabic script and replaced it with European alpha-bet. Ataturk initiated the most vigorous and modernising programs: Political, Economic, Educational, Religious, Civil and Cultural.
The above gives our readers a basis to make an informed opinion, regarding Erdogan who has been aspiring to re-create the Ottoman Empire with him as the Caliph of Islam.

From 2007 till 2019, Erdogan was able to utterly destroy all of Ataturk’s reforms and dragged Turkey once more into the Dark Ages of Sharia as history clearly proves when studying any of the Muslim states.

As you are reading this article, there are 57 Muslim majority states comprising 1,500,000,000 Muslims that are among the most Dysfunctional, Totalitarian, Theocratic or Despotic in the world.
Although the Muslims represent 20% of current humanity, they have managed Only FOUR Nobel laureates (not including for Peace) while the Jews (0.2% of current humanity) have been able to garner Two Hundred and Four (not including for Peace); yet no one has the backbone and or the knowledge to explain such an incredible anomaly although the Common Denominator fills the room.
So, to distract the attention of the certain economic collapse of his administration and like all demagogues, he has to try to find both internal and external enemies especially when they are not real.
His mentor Hitler had the Jews and Communists. Erdogan has Israel and the Kurds. Israel can and will defend herself if and when push comes to shove.
The tragedy for 40,000,000 Kurds since the end of WWI is that they are completely land locked, surrounded by and subjugated under other ethnic groups such as Turks, Iranians, Arabs and Russians. Not a single one of these countries would give them real autonomy.
Erdogan’s attempt to join the European Union had one single objective: to INVADE Europe with tens of millions of Muslims thus bringing down Western Civilization and culture under the heels of Islamic Sharia forever. Even now, he is threatening the spineless, Quran clueless European leaders with millions of “refugees”.
Tragically, you in the USA do not have better leaders (Except for Donald J Trump) who knows how dangerous Open Borders are as well about Muslims (but is constrained by his Politically Correct brain dead dim wit opponents).
Personally, I would have much preferred he removes ALL troops from Afghanistan because it has been and continues to be a waste of time trying to remove Sharia from Islam. Never can this be done unless by Muslims themselves such as Ataturk, Saddam and Jamal abdul Nasser did.
Even many troops (not all) from Japan and South Korea but not the few hundred from Syria because it is a physical fact that nature abhors vacuum and Syria is much nearer to the USA, her Middle East allies and Europe. These few hundreds are infinitely more important in Syria than all the others I have listed above, but maybe the President knows better.  Image: AFP Video
