America is a truly unique and wonderful place. We have citizens of all races, creeds, and religions, and we all have equal protection under the law and equal opportunity to succeed and pursue happiness.

However, equality isn’t good enough for the Left. They prefer we not all be equal but that some types of people have special privileges and treatment.

Indeed, the latest example that demonstrates this fact comes to us courtesy of everyone’s favorite socialist, Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders. At a LGBTQ Pride celebration in Des Moines, IA, he attacked the Trump Administration for their alleged discrimination against the LGBTQ community.

“We have recently seen the Trump State Department actually try to limit embassies from flying the Pride Flag,” Sanders complains. This criticism was echoed by the notorious anti-Semite and Democratic congresswoman, Ilhan Omar, who tweeted, “This is another blatant example of this administration’s bigotry and discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ community.”

So the Left is pretending to be outraged about the Trump Administration rejecting requests to fly the rainbow Gay Pride flag at American embassies. The only problem with this criticism of the Trump campaign is that, as usual, it’s misleading and deceptive.

Leftists want you to believe that the Trump Administration is full of hateful bigots who are actively discriminating against LGBTQ Americans. They are counting on people being idiots and swallowing their narrative rather than doing a two-second Google search to debunk their lies.

According to Vice President Mike Pence, the Trump Administration put no restrictions on displaying the rainbow flag, or any other flag for that matter, at American embassies. The restriction applies only to the official American flagpole at American embassies.

When speaking with NBC News, Pence stated, “I’m aware that the State Department indicated that on the flagpole of our American embassies that one flag should fly, and that’s the American flag. And I support that … when it comes to the American flagpole at American embassies at capitals across the world, having the one American flag fly, I think, is the right decision.”

Vice President Pence is correct, of course. American embassies represent all of America, including those within the LGBTQ community. Why should we allow flags representing only a tiny segment of America to fly on the same flagpole as the American flag at American embassies?

The American flag, which represents the entire population instead of just a few of us, should be enough. I’m a Christian, but I don’t cry about American embassies not flying a Christian flag on their official flagpoles. Why? Because I recognize that not everyone in America shares my Christian beliefs, thus the Christian flag doesn’t represent everyone.

However, this is a problem for the Left. Ultimately, to them, it’s not enough that we’re all Americans with one flag that represents us all. They don’t want equality. They want special treatment and recognition for some Americans above others.  Image: Oded Balilty/AP
