Should we be alarmed by the dire predictions that have captivated the global psyche and is driving adults to brainwash children into believing in a dark future? The Green New Deal claims only 12 more years for life as we know it, unless we spend trillions of dollars to combat cataclysmic man-made climate change.

If we don’t convert to socialism and allow Democrats such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to control our lives, the planet will supposedly become uninhabitable. Dr. Lise Van Susteren, a Washington DC psychologist, wrote recently that the impact on children’s mental health is significant and psychological counseling is in order for many to assuage the grief exhibited by fear of rising sea levels and other dire consequences of climate change. And Van Susteren is a Democrat trained by Al Gore to ‘educate’ the public about global warming. In 2009, she joined the Board of Directors of Gore’s The Climate Reality Project.

But we must ask: why would we completely restructure our economy and sacrifice our personal freedom for “experts” who are rarely right? Here are a few dire predictions you may recall that never happened:

1966 – world oil depleted in 10 years
1968 – overpopulation will spread world wide
1970 – America subject to water rationing by 1974
1974 – ozone depletion a peril to life
1977 – Department of Energy says oil will peak in 1990s
1980 – acid rain killing life on lakes
1989 – New York City’s West Side highway underwater by 2019
1998 – Y2K will cause planes and trains to crash on Dec 31, 1999
2008 – arctic ice free by 2008

We can all remember more of them. They sell media and scare children, but never come true.

The emergence of youth-led child strikes

What we should be most alarmed about is the perverse and widespread brainwashing of our young people, as well as many naive and gullible adults, with doomsday tales regarding climate change. The socialists, who, as usual, are out to destroy capitalism by any means possible, managed to convince millions of adolescents around the world to stage a climate strike on September 20, 2019.

Any excuse to avoid school is a good one for many students, especially when it’s with the blessing of your left-wing teachers and parents. So it’s no surprise that so many children took to the streets. Who would have thought it was so easy to convince people that the climate is undergoing calamitous changes in recent years?

Over 1,000 youth-led strikes were held in the US, bringing students into the streets to demand local and national action to thwart nature. In New York City, 1.1 million school students were allowed to miss school for the Climate Strike protest. The day before the strike, Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Twitter: “Today’s leaders are making decisions for our environment that our kids will have to live with. New York City stands with our young people. They’re our conscience. We support the 9/20 #ClimateStrike.”

Strike originator Greta Thunberg

Perhaps the single most ludicrous aspect of the climate strike is that the notion originated with a 16-year old Swedish girl and environmental activist, Greta Thunberg, who has been skipping school every Friday for months in order to save the world.

Greta struggled to figure out an environmentally friendly method of travel to participate in the UN Climate Action Summit, scheduled 3 days after the Friday’s climate strike. She decided that both planes and cruise ships have high emissions, so she accepted a high-speed racing yacht from the U.K. She and the yacht and crew all flew back after the show.

When she addressed the UN Climate Action Summit on September 23, 2019, Thunberg said,

“You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words … entire ecosystems are collapsing, we are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!”

There is good reason why Greta received so much attention. The left wants to appeal to your emotions. What better way than to spotlight a child? Greta served as a convenient puppet on the climate change’s main stage.

Bringing young people into movements with an agenda is an old playbook used by Hitler’s youth movement in the 1930s. It is a classic ploy of any totalitarian regime like that seen today in N. Korea, where children are numbed and weaponized into belief that the State is more important than parents.

They are to report them to the authorities for thoughts and actions that conflict or contradict the good of the state. Every N. Korean defector has seen it first-hand.

Robbing children of their youth is the most insidious aspect of brainwashing young people. It is difficult enough to grow up. Are our kids not anxious enough, medicated enough, hovered over enough, and programed enough already? The climate change delusion is now causing serious health problems among too many of them.

A quote by Dr. Ottmar Endenhofer, former group leader at the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), reveals what is really happening:

“We (the IPCC) redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy. . .One has to free one’s self from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. It has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore.”

We should be keeping our children as far away as possible from this travesty.
