The left-wing socialists in the Democratic party are telling people that we need to “fix” the so-called injustices of capitalism. “An entire generation which is now becoming one of the largest electorates in America, came of age and never saw American prosperity.”
This was the comment made by Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to Newsweek talking about the millennial generation. This is the distorted viewpoint which hundreds of thousands of these millennials believe. The indoctrination of this narrative by the mainstream media and many colleges has this generation believing they’ve never seen prosperity. This is probably one of the most entitled, factually illiterate and irresponsible statements made by Cortez, which shouldn’t come as a surprise.
We live in the most privileged time in history, in the most prosperous nation in the world, and yet⏤we’ve become blind to it. According to a Pew Research Center study in 2015, “on a global scale, the vast majority of Americans are either upper-middle income or high income. And many Americans who are classified as “poor” by the U.S. government would be middle income globally.”
This generation has grown up in era of extremely incredible technology, where nearly all of them walk around with a $500 dollar smart phone. Show a 25-year-old a dial type phone, and they hardly know what it is, let alone don’t know how it works.
We can click a button today and order almost anything on Amazon, and it’s on your doorstep in three days. Need information on almost anything, and it’s just a click away on Google, there’s no need to open a book and search. Need to find your way? Turn on your GPS, there’s no getting lost or needing to learn how to navigate a map. Games like X-Box have more computing power than the space shuttle. In most of America, you can find fast food anywhere, and not even need to get out of your car, everything has drive-up service today.
We have more freedoms today than ever before, freedom to choose more than any time in history. Most youth, that fit into the millennial category, are driving nice cars. These things are so ingrained in our American way of life, there’s not a second thought given to how fortunate they are. There are people all over the world trying to come to America because we do have so much to offer.
Many of today’s millennial generation are unappreciative, unsatisfied and ungrateful. This generation didn’t live in the Great Depression, or live through two World Wars, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, or see the rise and fall of socialism and communism.
Yet, we have Democrat politicians who are dead set on taking steps to abolish capitalism. As with most young people they are very influenced by the media and believe most of what they hear. As we well know, the left-wing media is the microphone for these self-serving sycophants. They have this generation convinced they’ve never seen prosperity, when in fact, the only thing they have seen, is prosperity. Hence, they have no contrast, so they believe the socialist pied-pipers selling them on the thought that their lives can be so much better.
Another part of this equation, is the loss of God in many of this generations childhood raising. Certainly, one of the many things a belief in a higher power than you impacts, is your sense of being grateful, grateful for what you have, not what you don’t have. This loss only embellishes the yearning for something better, especially when your “trusted” politicians are telling you so.
Here’s the danger. Millennials are one of the largest electorates in America. How long will it be before this generation impacts our elections, especially our presidential election? They don’t have a prosperity problem, they have an entitlement problem!
