Are we taking the concept of liberty too far? While we have many freedoms in the west, shouldn’t we also have the freedom to chose to “stay in our lane” or not? Should we have the freedom to accept our differences, respect those differences, but not feel the pressure to “blend” our differences in order to make a more peaceful society? Conversations about homosexuality, abortion, or political differences can easily be construed as hate speech – should we all simply go along so that we can get along? How can we live in a society that respects the differences without feeling the need to actually “blend” their belief systems to fit another persons so they can all “get along”?
Are we becoming too tolerant that our belief systems are being compromised?
Can’t we be different, respect our differences, without having to change or “mute” our belief systems so everyone can get along? What happens to the joy and pleasure in our lives if we continue to feel that ‘tolerance by blending’ is the only way forward? Co-hosts Barbara McGee, Dr Andrea Pennington and Ava Armstrong deliver a compelling debate on ‘the art of compromise’. Malcolm has a few thoughts of his own (go figure).
