The unfolding story of the Iranian threat, from the assassination of Qasem Soleimani and some of the secret details that didn’t make the headlines. What happened, what was the response, and where do we go from here? The word among some members of the intelligence community is that the government of Iran is in a panic. This is not good news for the world. And it is making Iran’s neighbors very uneasy. It’s difficult to remember a time when the mullahs of Iran were sane. Their insanity began with the overthrow of the Shah in 1979, and the assumption to power of Ayatollah Khomeini in that same year, and the bloody revolution that began with the occupation of the U.S. Embassy in Teheran, exactly forty years ago. The Ayatollah turned a secular country, where the people were free to live as they liked and enjoy relative freedom in a Muslim country, into an Islamic state that controlled all aspects of public life under strict Shariah (Islamic law). When a head of state believes that the Messiah will be coming any day now, and that the way to hasten his coming is to sow the seeds of chaos wherever possible (because chaos must occur before his arrival), chaos is what can be expected. And when that state is equipped with nuclear weapons, the stage is set for disaster of catastrophic proportions. It is set for the people in […]
One of the more significant aspects regarding the Iranian Nuclear Deal that many of us former career intelligence officers became aware of during the Obama administration’s involvement in negotiating the deal, was the extent of and almost obsessive level of dedicated engagement by many members of the Obama national security team. The permissiveness and loyalty in their participation and passion caused many of us to wonder how this would affect America’s trust aspect with Iran, along with future strategic efforts by the incoming Trump Administration. The other concern was that was evident almost immediately after Donald Trump’s election, was whether it was possible for Obama’s people to disengage and essentially give it up under a new administration. In fact, I was steadfast in my concern and belief that many would attempt to stay engaged with Tehran because of both their firm belief that they had negotiated a great deal and that they had a significant degree and level of their investment in the effort. I suspected from the onset that this could be a serious problem for President Trump. Those concerns soon became apparent in the days following the November 2016 election when it was learned that a small […]
As Iran ups the ante in its propaganda war accuses U.S. of staging attacks on Gulf ships which Washington’s claim Tehran is to blame, Iran’s parliament speaker hinted Sunday that Washington could be behind the “suspicious” tanker attacks in the Gulf of Oman to pile pressure on Tehran. In response, Iran accused Washington of waging an “Iranophobic campaign” against it, while Trump countered that the country was “a nation of terror.” The attacks have taken place southeast of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital corridor connecting the energy-rich states of the Middle East to the global market. The six recent incidents caused damage to two tankers last week, and four others in previous weeks in the Gulf of Oman have ratcheted up already high tensions between Tehran and Washington, prompting fears of a possible regional conflagration and sending oil prices soaring. It needs to be understood however that Iran’s tanker attacks are a direct reaction to the rising tensions since President Trump pulled U.S. out of the Iran Nuclear Deal. In addition, the Trump administration has since re-imposed crippling unilateral sanctions on Tehran — targeting crucial parts of Iran’s economy, especially the banking and oil sectors. In the meantime, in […]
The fact that even the mention that U.S. military is exploring a plan to deploy 120,000 troops to the Middle East as tensions with Iran intensify was for the most part deliberate. This information of course, was leaked for a number of reasons. This week’s sudden revelation that the Pentagon was all of a sudden working on a plan to send 120,000 troops to the Middle East produced a reaction from those in the media and others who were caught off guard. But what is really at play and what is actually going on? At the same time, let’s understand what is at stake and what has been previously been ongoing with regard to Iran and the region by the Trump administration. Also understand once again, as I have previous discussed, the Trump Doctrine and national security strategy. Primary is that President Trump holds decisions and intentions close to the vest. At the same time he is a master of the message, deception and what he is thinking. At the same time he both speaks his mind and is unfiltered. So let’s look at what is playing out in the last 2-3 days — 1. First, it’s both an intended and […]

And when such a call is combined with any act that seizes or destroys a strategic target, takes hostages, impedes civilian mobility, cripples supply lines, delays emergency response, or poses a threat of mass casualties, it should be understood and treated as such. Truth Be Told with Booker Scott – In 2021, the top 50% of filers earned 90% of all income, so half of Americans are earning 9 out of every 10 dollars. It would be easy to think that a fair share would be 90%; that’s fair, isn’t it? I’m not sure how much fairer Biden wants it and where he thinks he’s going to get it because that same 50% of filers pay 98% of all taxes the government receives…
Too often, peer review of scientific reports amounts to little more than “pal review,” a rubber stamp from supporters of the hypothesis being investigated. What is needed is to allow reports to be reviewed by many people on all sides of issues, both inside the scientific community and in the public at large. One prominent group is actually doing this — the London, UK-based Global Warming Policy Foundation…
