“Put your face in the water”, spoke my friend committed to aiding me in facing my deep fear of swimming in the Gulf of Mexico. These words spoken to me over and over again were the fuel that built my confidence and inspired me to dig deeper and try harder to learn how to swim, so I could work toward my dream of competing in an Ironman race. Today, in those life moments where I lack action toward what I dread, fear, doubt, question, lack confidence, or am overwhelmed by I speak the words, “put your face in the water”. This mantra always produces in me a fire that leads to action! Just say no to procrastination it is the killer of all your dreams. Don’t put off tomorrow what you can do right this moment. “Put your face in the water!”
At the core of procrastination is fear. What are you afraid of? Why do you keep putting off healthy living for Monday or the New Year? Why have you not taken that first step toward the life you dream of? What are you waiting for? Why do you keep accepting low level living as the only way? What can you do right now to step in the right direction of what you hold deeply in your heart?
Creating the life you dream of requires you to consistently commit to stepping outside your comfort zone. As Americans we are addicted to thinking! Think about it, we think more than we do. Do you want to succeed in the mental world or succeed in the physical world? Think less do more, America!
Here is my challenge to you: Do one thing every day that aligns with your wishes, wants, dreams and goals. The power of momentum is a powerful source of energy! Use momentum to your advantage by putting your face in the water – Just Do it! Don’t put off today what you can do right this moment! Start eating healthy right now! Begin investing your hard earned cash! Sign up for that course you have been thinking about! The best way to set yourself up for success is to commit to action. Start by doing something easy. Something that is right in front of you. Devote yourself unreservedly to taking action everyday toward your goals. Committing to taking action is a high form of energy that will ultimately produce the results you are seeking.
In 2008 after a financially devastating divorce, I found myself looking for answers at the bottom of a beer bottle.
