We are the largest cohort in American history suffering from self-induced ailments that keep us stuck in sucky situations. For many, living in a sucky comfort zone is far more appealing than faithfully stepping out of our bad habits. Did you know that more than one-third (34.9% or 78.6 million) of U.S. adults are obese? Were you aware that 40-50% of first marriages end in divorce and 60-70% of second marriages end in divorce? I guess the grass is not greener on the other side! In addition, the average credit card debt is $15,611! America, we are suffering and it is impacting all facets of our life.
How does it feel to NOT live the life you have always dreamed of living? Many of our bad habits and decisions lead us to a life of loss, confusion, frustration, agitation, irritation and a life that sucks. If you are a whiner and a complainer you must get a new mindset. Living a fit and fearless life involves awareness and action. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get from wrong behavior to right behavior without first changing your thoughts. There is a 7 step formula that can assist you in creating a healthy, prosperous and joyful life but it requires effort. It is an active process that involves awareness and action. Are you ready to change your life?
WHAT? The first step to this process begins with knowing WHAT you want. What do you want today from your relationships, finances, career, spiritual, self? You must be clear in what it is that makes you feel joy. This clarity leads you to identifying specific goals.
WHY? The next thing you need to ask yourself is WHY! Why is WHAT you want from your life so important? What is the emotion behind the desires you have for your life? When you attach emotion behind your dreams you are more likely to pursue them with passion.
WHY NOT? You are not going to like this but YOU are the reason for your sucky situation! The third step in the formula to creating the life you always dreamed of is asking yourself WHY NOT. Why are you not getting what you want? Why have you not taken intentional action to achieve your ideal life? What are the reasons you believe you are not getting what you want from your life? Is fear holding you back? What are you afraid of? Do you lack the skill? Do you lack confidence? Are you unsure “how to” do what you want? How we feel about ourselves impacts every part of our life.
If you have a negative attitude about yourself you will continue to stay in a sucky situation. The biggest clue to not achieving what you want is checking your mindset, attitudes, habits and self-chatter. The answer is YOU! You are the reason you are not living the life you dream of. No more blame game, America! It is time to take accountability for the issues that are keeping you from living a fit and fearless life.
Have you ever lost weight only to gain it back? The reason for this is you changed your behavior but your mind-set remained the same. It never works! A breakthrough can only happen when you change your thinking. A bad, sucky life is a direct reflection of a bad mind-set. Set your mind to do what is front of you! Never give up, have a victory mind-set. Going into battle with wrong thinking is like going in front line of war without a weapon. We focus on changing our behavior without ever giving credence to the power of the mind.
The first three keys to getting unstuck from a sucky situation is asking WHAT, WHY, and WHY NOT. FEAR OR FAITH, what do you choose? Change your mind before you change your life. Next week’s post will introduce the fourth step in the process of changing a sucky situation.
