George G. McClellan’s professional career covered 43 years in Law Enforcement including the California Highway Patrol and the US Naval Investigative Service, among others. With the latter, he became a world traveler visiting and working in many countries from the Philippine Islands to the United Kingdom, Asia, the Middle-East, the Balkans, all of Europe and Russia. McClellan is a historian and an avid writer. His efforts, apart from his book, include collecting and publishing the military histories of Gilmer Co. Veterans; an examination of Georgia’s Celtic connections, all published in the Ellijay Times-Courier and he still produces a column titled “America Through a Windshield” which is a compilation of his travels around America. He has also written for law enforcement and security magazines.

McClellan was born in San Bernardino, California, of parents who had fled Oklahoma and Colorado during the Great Depression. McClellan loves history and has published a historical biography, Perilous Paths, about a early American explorer, trapper, trader and Indian fighter. He writes extensively about historical subjects as well as commenting on America’s rapidly changing political systems.

He retired from the NIS at Naval Air Station, Atlanta, Ga. and has remained in the north Georgia area since 1990. He now resides in Gilmer County, Ga. Married to Edna for over fifty years. They have two sons and three grandchildren.  He is a  member of the Robert Burns Club of Atlanta, the World Burns Federation, Robert Burns Assoc. of North America, St. Moritz (Switzerland) Toboggan, The Club Oregon-California Trails Assoc. and he is also a “Fellow” with the Scottish Society of Antiquities.
