Now what if you dislike my talk so much that you throw rocks, bricks, burn buildings and incite violence because you wish not to hear me speak – it this okay? Where are the boundaries of this free speech business? Is it important to have a spirit of “debate” on college campuses to encourage learning, growth, and awareness?

The first amendment is the most often quoted amendment and probably the most misunderstood. What has changed in our society that has caused so many to feel so sensitive or threatened when they don't like the subject matter or don't have a reasonable answer?

At one time the family dinner table was where you could discuss controversial type topics, kids were encouraged to say what was on their minds, how their day was and so forth. The home was considered a safe place. For many the family dinner has gone the way of the dinosaur. Whose responsibility is it now to offer these safe spaces and why do we need them?
